Green Village Tour

Set along the banks of Ubud’s sacred Ayung River, Green Village is made up of 13 bamboo residences, each individually designed by Indonesian architecture firm IBUKU. The tour shines a spotlight on homes that exemplify architectural innovation, craftsmanship and conservation.

Location: Ubud, Central Bali

Time: 7 hours

Provided: Mineral water, English-speaking guide

Bring: Walking shoes, camera

Price: IDR 410,000

First, you’ll stop by IBUKU’s workshop to find out why bamboo is such a strong and versatile building material. See firsthand how the team treats, cuts and crafts the fast-growing grass into furniture, floors and roofs.

After a five-minute drive, you’ll arrive at Green Village for a guided walking tour where you’ll see homes* inspired entirely by nature—like the softly-curved Leaf House. Other designs draw on Indonesia’s indigenous architecture, such as Villa Kelapa, sheltered by two horn-shaped roofs, a distinctive feature of Sumatran Minangkabau buildings.
