Island Talks #002 – Peggy Gou
Berlin-based Korean selector Peggy Gou returned to Bali and Katamama for a third time at the end of December to be part of the Potato Head x Freedom Time event alongside Chicago house legend Larry Heard.
A classically-trained pianist, Peggy’s transition into the world of electronic music came in London, where she was balancing fashion school with a new interest in DJing. Since then, she’s established a place for herself at the forefront of underground electronica, releasing four EPs in 2016, and throwing down sets at highly regarded music institutions the likes of Amsterdam’s Dekmantel festival, Manchester’s The Warehouse Project and DC10 in Ibiza.
Fresh from hitting the fifth spot in Mixmag’s ‘Top DJs of 2017,’ we talk to her about her Bali loves, making music in her suite at Katamama, her new artwork, and musical aspirations for 2018.
